Psychology

Unusually for myself I thought I'd do a post on psychology. I say unusually in that I think I'm regarded by many people as a pretty black-and-white and straightforward person who is immune to psychological concepts or persuasions or things like that. I do not feel that this is the case and I don't feel I am much different to everybody else and I'd like to give a few examples. For example when we are about to go to fill up the car with petrol with my mother, at the moment we have to do this because she's unable to place the nozzle in the tank appropriately. I just sit there waiting and whilst my mother gets ready and often my mother will comment, "Don't rush me, don't hassle me. It takes my time. I'm old now@. But I'm not doing anything whatsoever. I am simply sitting there waiting. I'm not saying, 'Come quickly, hurry up. ' I'm not saying anything. I am just sitting there impartially waiting for my mother to get ready. " Now it is the psychology here that it is my presence there that puts a bit of stress on my mother. Nothing more, my presence. It is the expectation that I am waiting, my presence there that puts stress on my mother. Now I thought to myself, "Well people are put in stressful situations in strange kinds of ways, isn't it?" My mother is anxious not to let me wait or hang around too long. I'm not actually saying anything but I'm putting her under stress. I thought at that time this is very analogous to the situation in which a provocatively dressed lady, perhaps showing her breasts or her genital region, her vagina, comes into the presence. She walks down the street or is in a shop or something. She's not saying anything. She's not inviting you to talk to her but as an aware male and as a male that enjoys these kinds of sights, etc. , it puts me under a bit of duress, a bit of stress, etc. In an exactly analogous way my mother is put under stress because there is a slight expectation to go up to her and start chatting with her and getting to know her for sexual reasons. It may ultimately be the motive for this kind of thing. This situation occurs in many situations where you're waiting for somebody for some reason and then they behave strangely, unexpectedly, and it surprises you. You don't necessarily react in a completely rational way to this. You're surprised by it and you don't know how to react to it. You might react by shouting or you might react as my mother does by criticising me, where there was no cause for the criticism whatsoever. I just thought of that when this scenario of events occurred and I thought I'd air this because I am not a person that is immune to emotional behaviour. I'm quite an emotional person and I like to be straightforward and black and white but I'm not immune to anything. I'm only human.
